The Case of the Mummy Express, pg 34

Up Jib, Cap'n!

Now we're firmly in the territory of two influences on this story.

First is a 1974 film starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee: Horror Express, which you can watch in its entirety on YouTube!

Another movie that inspired this story is Train to Busan:

I love a good siege story. One of my favorite films of all time is John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness, in which a team of scientists are trapped in a church while the apocalypse unfolds around them. They're trapped, and no one can help them. They've got to rely on themselves and each other to survive the horror. This is probably why I enjoy Metroid games so much. In most of them Samus is navigating subterranean worlds facing all sorts of horrific monsters.

But there's something even more exciting about moving the siege story to a train. You're trapped but you're moving. It's claustrophobic but you're not entirely stuck. From a creator's standpoint it's a pain to stage and block, but the results are so fun.

Cap'n Lao and Ship's Cook Maggie now have to get to the front of the train through a host of angry mummies. Will they survive? What will they have to sacrifice in order to do so?
