So this is why Cap'n Lao and Maggie were selected for the journey--the procession needs to be led by a cat, and the cats of the Cat Grasslands have been lost to history. And Lao is a ship's captain, which gives him authority and presumably the intuition on running a train. I mean, it's just a big land boat on tracks, right??
