Thunder Punch Daily 101 – Logo Design Tips

As I work through a batch of designs for a new logo for the Kids Read Comics event, I share a little bit about my thinking process about logo design and three methods I use to put a little intentionality into my logos.

Don’t forget to check out the new episode of Big Illustration Party Time, and help out the March 12 Kids Read Comics event by posting a banner on your site!

Here are a few more attempts that didn’t make the cut:

Thunder Punch Daily 99 – Local Trumps Global

Today I share my thoughts on the Diamond Digital Distribution announcement, and explain the real reason that I think it’s silly for local comics stores to participate in such shenanigans, especially when they’re sitting on a means to save themselves without Diamond.

I also mention Eli Neiburger’s talk on the future of libraries, and my talk from Ignite Chelsea.

Thunder Punch Daily 95 – Short-Term Overextension

Today I explain why I took on making a mini-comic to be completed in the same week that I have a trillion other things going on. Does this fly in the face of my 2011 goal not to overcommit to projects? If not, how?

Thunder Punch Daily 94 – The Cure for My Ennui

Confronting fears to put a little steam in your stride is today’s topic. I share some thoughts on projects I’m taking on like Ignite Ann Arbor, Ignite Chelsea, and a new video series I’m developing for release next year. At least for me, taking on scary projects does a lot to make the job seem more worthwhile.

Thunder Punch Daily 93 – Story Recipes

Today I share some thoughts that occurred to me after listening to the latest Spark podcast and witnessing Matt Feazell’s workshop at the Ann Arbor District Library. Can a story have a recipe? If we think about the recipe as something to play with and modify to our own tastes, I don’t think it’s terribly harmful to think of it that way.
