Thunder Punch Daily 35 – Freelance Imagination

Today I share some thoughts about how we’re hired for our imaginations as much as our skills with the pen in contractual employment. Illustration skill is important, but you need a highly developed imagination in order to beat those nearly impossible jobs and scripts. As usual, I share a few anecdotes to demonstrate how I learned this and to back up my point.

Today I share some thoughts on a recent TED talks presentation by Simon Sinek. In his talk he explains how inspired business leaders think in the order of Why, How, and What, while most of us think in the reverse order (and seldom get to the Why at the center). I dive in to explain how this philosophy applies to all aspects of our cartooning careers.
